I love love love to crochet. I've made many afghans, throws, and huge blankets. One of my favorite patterns is the large 12" pineapple squares. The pattern is from Red Heart yarn. The only thing I did different is in the assembly.
Instructions:
Ch 4, join with a sl st to form ring
Round 1: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, work 2 more dc in the ring, (ch 3, 3 dc in the ring) 3 times, ch 1, join with a hdc to the top of the begining ch 3 to form the last loop.
Round 2: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, dc around the hdc joining, skip next dc, (dc, ch 3, dc) in the next dc, *skip next dc, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in the next ch 3 sp, skip the next dc, (dc, ch 3, dc) in the next dc* Repeat from * to * 2 times, skip next dc, 2 dc in the next ch 1 sp; ch 1, join with a hdc to the top of the beginning ch 3.
Round 3: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, dc around the hdc joining, ch 2, 6 trc in the next ch 3 sp, ch 2, *(2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in the next ch 3 sp, ch 2, 6 trc in the next ch 3 sp, ch 2* Repeat from * to * 2 times, 2 dc in the next ch 1 sp; ch 1, join with a hdc to the top of the beginning ch 3.
Round 4: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, dc around the hdc joining, ch 2, dc in the next trc, (ch 1, dc in the next trc) 5 times, ch 2, *(2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in the next ch 3 sp, ch 2, dc in the next trc, (ch 1, dc in the next trc) 5 times, ch 2* Repeat from * to * 2 times, 2 dc in the next ch 1 sp; ch 1, join with a hdc to the top of the beginning ch 3.
Round 5: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, dc around the hdc joining, dc in each of the next 2 dc, ch 2, sc in the next ch 1 sp,(ch 3, sc in the next ch 1 sp) 4 times, ch 2, dc in each of the next 2 dc, *(2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in the next ch 3 sp, dc in each of the next 2 dc, ch 2, sc in the next ch 1 sp,(ch 3, sc in the next ch 1 sp) 4 times, ch 2, dc in each of the next 2 dc* Repeat from * to * 2 times, 2 dc in the next ch 1 sp; ch 1, join with a hdc to the top of the beginning ch 3.

Round 8: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, dc around the hdc joining, dc in each of the next 8 dc, ch 2, sc in the next ch 3 sp, ch 3, sc in the next ch 3 sp, ch 2, dc in each of the next 8 dc, *(2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in the next ch 3 sp, dc in each of the next 8 dc, ch 2, sc in the next ch 3 sp, ch 3, sc in the next ch 3 sp, ch 2, dc in each of the next 8 dc* Repeat from * to * 2 times, 2 dc in the next ch 1 sp; ch 1, join with a hdc to the top of the beginning ch 3.
Round 9: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, dc around the hdc joining, dc in each of the next 10 dc, ch 3, sc in the next ch 3 sp, ch 3, dc in each of the next 10 dc, *(2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in the next ch 3 sp, dc in each of the next 10 dc, ch 3, sc in the next ch 3 sp, ch 3, dc in each of the next 10 dc* Repeat from * to * 2 times, 2 dc in the next ch 1 sp; ch 1, join with a hdc to the top of the beginning ch 3. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
